'Nature is not a place to visit, it is home'

Picture 1_edited.jpg

The Rainforest Discovery Centre (RDC) evolved from small, cozy environmental education (EE) centre in 1996 into one of Sabah's most popular EE centres today. It is situated within the famous Kabili-Sepilok Virgin Jungle Reserve (Class VI), home of the orang utans at the Sepilok Orang Utan Rehabilitation Centre. The RDC is managed by the Sabah Forestry Department.

Although the main purpose of the RDC is as an EE centre for students and teachers, it is also open to visitors from 8 am to 5 pm.

If you visit the RDC during weekends, you will most likely see school children being guided around the Exhibition Hall, the Plant Discovery Garden and the trails by our education staff. All proceeds from ticket sales will be used to sustain our centre so that we can continue to organise EE programmes for students, organising teacher-training courses and other environment-related activities.
